I constantly find myself heading to google and searching “similar to …..” or “website like….”
I do this because I’ll come across a tool that I want to use, but I need other features or I want to see my other options before I settle on the service.
When a NighLon reader told me about Websiteslike.org I was excited to give it a try.
It’s really easy to use- just put the website you are looking for an alternative to in the search bar, and click search.
You will then be redirected to a page listing your search. Click the link after website like at the bottom of the box containing your search.
I am always looking for better ways to manage my social media, so I searched for sites like Gremln.
As you can see, websiteslike.org will provide you with a list of similar websites. Included in the list is the former name of Gremln (really handy). It also gives you a summary of the site and the option to see sites like those.
Websiteslike.org provided me with a list of sites that offer all the types of features that Gremln offers. So, I now have a list of social media and scheduling tools.
You could even use this site when researching. If you are reading on one site, and you want to find another opinion or perspective, search the site you are using.
I am really loving this tool, and I use it several times a week. I hope it proves to be as useful to you as it is to me.
What are your must have tools?

Not too long ago, I got an interesting email from a reader.
She informed me about a free online tool that I would be interested in sharing with my readers.
I took a trip to statmyweb.com and was quite pleased with what I found.
This is a free service that gives you all kinds of nifty information.
1. go to statmyweb.com and enter your domain
(Isn’t the loading screen adorable!?)
2. See your stats!
You will now see just about any statistics that you would want to see relating to traffic.
Initially, the information will be in paragraph form, but if you scroll down, you will find charts and graphs.
- Domain age
- Alexa rank (in world and country)
- Monetary value
- Page load time
- Google page rank
- Number of unique visitors a day
- Total pageviews a day
- IP address
- Server location
- SEO score
- Date of last post.
You will also find stats related to the number of “headings” you have used, number of images, and the language it is written in. Statmyweb.com has also included domain registry information, as well as a map of where the server is.
One of my favorite tools they have included is a listing of my top 10 pages! This makes the life of a blogger a wee bit easier! You will also find information on backlinks, as wells as your own links. Want to know how many internal vs. external links you have? This is the place to find it. Statmyweb.com has also provided the number of pages indexed by search engines.
Although Statmyweb.com has included much more than the average blogger needs to know, is is a one stop shop for all things statistics. Be sure to explore it, I’m sure you will find something of interest!
What is your favorite statistics tool?

As I have told you guys before, I think QR Codes are AMAZING!
Since I haven’t written about these amazing little codes, I will share some of my favorite QR code art with you.
source: Incredible Things
source: Victoria’s Secret
Source: QR Code Hote, Dubai
Here is a list of unique QR Code implementations:
Identify lost pets
Get information for houses on the market
Get nutritional information on food/ beverages
Download link for books and coupons
Political campaign information
To find out where produce is grown
Access tribute websites from headstones
As name tags
As luggage tags (genius!)
QR codes have also been seen on food, on designer clothing, and even as tattoos.
What is your favorite use of QR codes?
Have you or would you implement them into your business?
Yay! We finally get into the fun stuff now!
I am so excited to share with you all the fun things you can do with Facebook to market yourself.
Today, I will share my favorite facebook landing pages, touch on all of the amazing apps you can use to improve your fanpage, and give you a step-by-step guide to setting up your landing page.
First, here are my favorite landing pages:
All of these ads have one thing in common, besides an amazing design.
They all contain a call to action. It doesn’t matter if you are giving information, a service, or a product; let your fans know what they will benefit from you. For example, here is mine (before the redesign)
My call to action tells you that if you “like” my page, you will receive marketing information.
A good fanpage will also include a link to your site/ blog.
Here are some amazing thing you can do with your fanpage:
Give “fans only” content/ products. I have seen many companies give away graphics if you “like” them.
You can even hold a giveaway for when you receive x number of followers.
Use it as a landing page for all of your networks
Show off your work.
Honestly, the possibilities are endless.
The lesson for today: creating a simple landing page:
*remember* if you need my help, I am happy to assist!
Because I try to make my “lessons” simple enough for anyone who can open a browser, this lesson will be for the simplest of fan pages.
I will however, share more complex ones in the future.
Because I want to completely start a new campaign, I am going to use CoolMojito
1. Go to http://www.coolmojito.com/
2. In the menu, select sign up FREE, and you can sign up using Facebook login
3. Click “create a page”
4. In the pop-up, name your page and select main as the category
5. Scroll through the options and select a theme.
6. I chose a simple one with a single page since this is a beginner’s tutorial.
7. After you select the layout you want, just play around with all the options to create the look you want.
Note: this builder features a wide range of options for all levels of experience.
I went with a blank template so that I could drag and drop the elements I prefer.
Tips: you can use your logo, header, picture of yourself, or really anything that you feel is a acceptable brand image
Be sure to include what you will offer your readers/ fans!
Also- include some links to favorite posts and to your other social media profiles.
Be sure to save often, I had to start over once!
8. Once you are happy with your design, click “save and continue” at the bottom of the page.
9. You will now see a preview of your creation.
10. Select the appropriate options on the left sidebar.
You can see the preview as you try out options.
11. Select “publish changes” and you can choose to preview your page.
Now, you have to make sure that it is the default landing page for your fan page.
This is really simple!
1. Go to your fan page
2. Click “Edit Info” under the title of your page
3. Select “manage permissions” on the left side of your page
4. There will be a drop down menu beside “default landing tab”
5. Select where you want visitors to land
(If you are using coolmojito, you should choose “home”)
6. Select “Save Changes” at the bottom.
Now, you are all set with a fabulous landing page.
Go here to see what I created: NighLon fan page
I hope you enjoyed this lesson.
