I constantly find myself heading to google and searching “similar to …..” or “website like….”
I do this because I’ll come across a tool that I want to use, but I need other features or I want to see my other options before I settle on the service.
When a NighLon reader told me about Websiteslike.org I was excited to give it a try.
It’s really easy to use- just put the website you are looking for an alternative to in the search bar, and click search.
You will then be redirected to a page listing your search. Click the link after website like at the bottom of the box containing your search.
I am always looking for better ways to manage my social media, so I searched for sites like Gremln.
As you can see, websiteslike.org will provide you with a list of similar websites. Included in the list is the former name of Gremln (really handy). It also gives you a summary of the site and the option to see sites like those.
Websiteslike.org provided me with a list of sites that offer all the types of features that Gremln offers. So, I now have a list of social media and scheduling tools.
You could even use this site when researching. If you are reading on one site, and you want to find another opinion or perspective, search the site you are using.
I am really loving this tool, and I use it several times a week. I hope it proves to be as useful to you as it is to me.
What are your must have tools?

I’ve been nominated!!!
Thank you Sylver Blaque for nominating me for this award. I am so honored. Your blog is amazing and the fact that you nominated me makes me want to jump right in again! Thank you!
Read about the Illuminated Blogger Award here.
In case you haven’t visited Sylver, you must, you must, visit Sylver Blaque. Not only is she one of the most unique people I know, but she is very encouraging. Her blog showcases her travels, thoughts, and studies into medieval life – just to name a few topics.
Now to share one random thing about myself.
This is harder than it sounds!
Thanks to a comment I made on Sylver’s blog- here goes.
I am afraid of stingrays.
I know that it seems like a really odd fear, but I’ll share the why with you.
When I was little (5ish) we lived on the coast (Beaufort, SC) and I would go fishing with my dad and grandmother A LOT. I never seemed to catch regular fish- I would catch anything that resembled an alien in the ocean. One time, I caught a stingray.
We are all sitting in the boat and my dad realized what I caught. I wanted to pet it- typical 5-year-old animal lover that I was. He started yelling at me to not touch it – that it would sting me. He also told me that it could kill me. I have been afraid of them since.
Fast forward several years and my dad wants to go on a cruise. He’s telling me about all these fun things we can do, like snorkel and PET A STING RAY— I think not!
Besides, we all know of a loveable animal dude who died from a stingray- seriously, who would want to pet one???
I’m also afraid of chickens, but that’s another story.
Now for my nominations (I am nominating those that inspire me – because Sylver inspires me!):
Yes, I went over 5, but that is okay!
Here are the Illuminating Blogger Award rules for accepting your award:
1. Create a post on your blog announcing your acceptance of the award.
2. In your acceptance post, thank the person who nominated you for the award, making sure to give a link back to that person’s blog.
3. List 1 random thing about yourself.
4. Nominate at least 5 other blogs for the same award.
Congrats to you wonderful ladies, and thank you for inspiring me.
I have some great things lined up now that NighLon is finally up and running again!

Not too long ago, I got an interesting email from a reader.
She informed me about a free online tool that I would be interested in sharing with my readers.
I took a trip to statmyweb.com and was quite pleased with what I found.
This is a free service that gives you all kinds of nifty information.
1. go to statmyweb.com and enter your domain
(Isn’t the loading screen adorable!?)
2. See your stats!
You will now see just about any statistics that you would want to see relating to traffic.
Initially, the information will be in paragraph form, but if you scroll down, you will find charts and graphs.
- Domain age
- Alexa rank (in world and country)
- Monetary value
- Page load time
- Google page rank
- Number of unique visitors a day
- Total pageviews a day
- IP address
- Server location
- SEO score
- Date of last post.
You will also find stats related to the number of “headings” you have used, number of images, and the language it is written in. Statmyweb.com has also included domain registry information, as well as a map of where the server is.
One of my favorite tools they have included is a listing of my top 10 pages! This makes the life of a blogger a wee bit easier! You will also find information on backlinks, as wells as your own links. Want to know how many internal vs. external links you have? This is the place to find it. Statmyweb.com has also provided the number of pages indexed by search engines.
Although Statmyweb.com has included much more than the average blogger needs to know, is is a one stop shop for all things statistics. Be sure to explore it, I’m sure you will find something of interest!
What is your favorite statistics tool?

I’m sharing a little something different with you today.
We all sometimes need to take a break from work in order to stay creative and fresh, this is REALITY.
This was definitely true for me today. I have been doing so many different projects that I was on the edge of burnout. (Some projects were NighLon, some were project from “real life”) I got some work done and decided to do something just for me.
Of course, I’m sure you have figured out by now that I am a completely random person with a son, a husband, and a ton of different interests.
I started The Palmetto Queen so that I will have a place to talk about the other parts of my life.
To talk about being a mom, a wife, a “ghost hunter” and all the other random hobbies I pick up.
NighLon is not going anywhere, and I will not be posting any less, I just needed something for my personal life.
This is also where I will be sharing pictures of my little guy, crafts, organizing tips, and my favorites.
I hope you visit The Palmetto Queen and follow me there, I promise it will be entertaining.
Be sure to visit me there.
What have you done for yourself lately?
How do you keep your creative spark and drive?
